Find your dream
Co-Founder
Without a strong team, your business idea will just stay that, an idea. Having a strong founding team exponentially increases your business' chances of success.
If finding the right Co-Founder seems like a daunting process, keep in mind these 5 key considerations:
Do I need a Co-Founder?
There is no right or wrong answer here.
Many solo-founder businesses have been successful but in general, a team of 2 or 3 people has the best dynamics necessary to run a company.
Founding a company is not a steady journey, it can be a real battle. Therefore, it is great to have someone on your team to share your wins with and have a shoulder to cry on; someone that can complement your strengths and balance out your weaknesses.
What to look for in your Co-Founder?
Chemistry
An absolute must in a co-founding team. Founders need to be able to see themselves working together for the next 3-10 years.
Shared values
Make sure you are on the same page when it comes to work style, how you treat/see your leadership style, compensation, working hours, company culture, and understand "what" drives you to make this business idea successful and "why".
Shared vision
Have an aligned view on where to take your company and find clear ways to align on differences. Even though at the beginning it might be difficult to have a clear vision, it is crucial to talk about it from the very start.
Complementary skills
In general, it is great to have a technical person leading the product development and a sales/business person that can take on commercial leadership.
Complementary personalities
Great founding teams combine different personality strengths, e.g. outgoing vs. focused & visionary vs. operational.
